ASSESSMENT OF ADVERSE DRUG REACTIONS OF ANTIDEPRESSANT DRUGS USED IN PSYCHIATRY DEPARTMENT OF A TERTIARY CARE HOSPITAL

Objective: The aim of the study was to analyze adverse drug reactions (ADRs) reported in patients prescribed antidepressants at tertiary care hospital. Methods: A prospective and observational conducted during January 2020–July 2021 Department Pharmacology collaboration with Psychiatry, GSVM Medical College, Kanpur. All diagnosed depression receiving pharmacotherapy were included study. ADRs monitored using standard form Central Drugs Standard Control Organization causality determined Naranjo algorithm. Data evaluated for patient’s demography, risk factors ADRs, pattern ADR. Results: total 293 recorded from 110 patients. most common observed anxiety (47.42%) insomnia (19.22%). Men (58.18%) commonly affected than women (41.82%). causal drugs among Escitalopram (27.27%) Venlafaxine (21.81%), respectively. system involved central nervous (53.24%) followed by gastrointestinal (41.63%). majority (97.95%) possible according Naranjo’s scale. Conclusion: Anxiety, insomnia, dizziness which associated use antidepressants. This offers a representative profile can be expected psychiatry outpatients.
